American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry

American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is the end all be all of cosmetic dentistry.  It was an honor to work on their website. The site is a great resource for patient testimonials and information about becoming an accredited member of the AACD. Nancy Lashly of Athena Marketing worked on the color scheme, fonts, and metal tinting that give the site a sophisticated and distinguished look. I worked on the technical aspect of putting everything together, the DHTML menus, wrote the shared JavaScript functions, created the site's .CSS file, worked on usability issues like making buttons larger and more readable and finally the cool video player featured on the homepage. The AACD internal web team was responsible for the content layout of the individual internal pages of the website after we handed over the shell.

Challenge
To create a classy yet cutting edge website that dentist and patents could recognize as the industries authority on cosmetic dentistry. Nancy the lead designer wanted the videos, fonts and buttons much smaller because it looked nice but was hard for people to use or see the videos so there were some design compromises for usability sake. The site's easy to use navigation and videos really set it apart not to mention it looks pretty darn yummy to boot.

Solution
All pages use a common JavaScript file for shared site functions in addition to a shared .CSS file for standard page formatting. The navigation for the entire site is comprised include files that update the navigation for the entire site vs. changing links on every page. The homepage features a state of the art video player that allows the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry to update their featured videos. Technologies used (HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, .CSS and Flash Media Player)

Benefit
A website that allows users to get from any page to any other page using fly-out DHTML menus that indexed like sticky glue in search engines.  The left hand navigation also expands/collapses for a clean professional look while offering additional information.  The navigation, search engine, and usability over the old site have improved greatly.  The site has big easy to read buttons
